The EFI Foundation (EFIF) had productive meetings and participated in several sessions at CERAWeek 2025 in Houston, Texas. CERAWeek is one of the preeminent global energy conferences, and we were thrilled to engage in discussions on how to advance new frontiers in energy innovation during our time there.

In the months leading up to CERAWeek, EFIF published groundbreaking analysis on nuclear power scaling, energy finance, load growth, and carbon capture. We shared the impact of this work in meetings and on stage, demonstrating the impact of coalition building and policy support to expand U.S. energy leadership.

EFIF Founder and CEO Ernest J. Moniz and EFIF executive leadership—including April Salas, Joe Hezir, Alex Kizer, and Stephen Comello—were on the ground highlighting the importance of our work and how to combine these efforts with smart policy design to accelerate the deployment of new technologies during panel discussions and roundtables throughout the week.

The United States leads the world in energy and U.S. industry possesses a wealth of knowledge and resources that can bring innovative technology design from conception to commercialization.

EFIF’s engagements at CERAWeek fostered the collaborative dialogue needed to build critical partnerships across the private sector.

The New York Times quoted Ernest Moniz from an appearance at CERAWeek 2025. Moniz stated “There’s going to be bumps in the road. … We are moving to this low-carbon future.”
Joe Hezir and Alex Kizer were quoted in a piece from Cipher at CERAWeek. The article discusses climate technologies that could see a growth under the new administration. “A critical market need is for increased and reliable electricity generation, so energy sources and technologies that can provide firm power will be receiving the most attention,” Joe shared.
