Meet Hannah! Hannah is EFI’s Operations Manager. A music and onesie fanatic, Hannah keeps all of us at EFI in check. We’d be lost without her!
What did you want to be when you grew up?
A few different things. For a while, I wanted to be the first female player in the MLB (I did have a “slugger” status in my softball little league). Then I wanted to be a fashion designer for a bit — I still have the color pencil drawings to prove it. And then, for a long, long time I had no idea what I wanted to be. Some might say I still don’t!
What was your most rewarding experience prior to working at EFI?
Wow, “most rewarding experience.”– I think it’d have to be joining a musical group in college. I made lasting friends, and I even ended up meeting my fiancé because of it. But it also allowed me to grow and challenge myself musically, something that’s so important to me. Putting some time aside each week to mess around with other music lovers kept me sane, and it’s a big part of why I am where I am today.
What’s the best thing about working at EFI?
The people! This is such a smart, fun, energetic (no pun intended) group of people to work with. Since I was hired remotely during the pandemic, I’ve only met my coworkers in person a small handful of times. Some of them I still haven’t met face-to-face! I always look forward to chances to meet up with everyone and get to know them better.
What gives you hope for the future?
Honestly, it feels cheesy to say, but this new generation gives me hope. The teens these days don’t wait until they get degrees or have years of professional experience to lead movements and advance our communities. These are some awesome young people who are environmentally and socially conscious, and who seem to be so confident in their voices at such a young age. They’re really stepping up and they make me want to do so too.
What is one thing on your bucket list (professional or otherwise)?
I have dreams of traveling way more often than I currently do. I’ve been to a small handful of countries, but I’d love to take a huge, comprehensive trip to the UK and Ireland, lug myself all the way over to New Zealand, or explore less heard-of/touristy destinations. Similarly, I want to take a spontaneous trip sometime, hop on a random plane or train and see where it goes. I know you can’t really jump on a random plane these days, but even showing up to the airport and getting a ticket for the next available flight or something sounds fun.
What is your favorite song at the moment?
This is the hardest question. Who can pick just one?? At the moment, I’ve belatedly gotten into Bridgerton the Musical — that definitely has a few bops. And I always love Brendon Urie of Panic at the Disco, but particular favorites of his are Dancing’s Not a Crime, This is Gospel, Death of a Bachelor, Hallelujah… I’ll stop, there are so many good ones. When the Day Met the Night. Ok now that’s really it. Oh, and Wild Child by The Struts!
BONUS: If you could compete in any winter Olympics sport, which would it be (and why)?
Well, my first thought is none of them. My ideal winter sport is something indoors, like a movie marathon or competitive cookie baking. But if I had to, I’d pick snowboarding because that’s the sport all the cool kids do. I’ve always thought skateboarders and snowboarders were so cool, it would be fun to pretend I’m one of them!
