Sonia Velazquez is the Administration and Events Coordinator at the Energy Futures Initiative (EFI).
Velazquez holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of North Florida, where she studied international business. While completing her degree, she participated in a study abroad program at the University of Verona in Italy with a focus on transportation and logistics. During this program, she studied European business practices and observed the process cadence for several Italian companies.
For her senior internship, she worked as an operations management intern with U.S. Hunger, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping one in four Americans who are food insecure. She worked closely with the operations manager analyzing day-to-day activities to improve operational efficiency. She was involved in several process improvements which included enhanced training protocols for incoming interns and quality control measures. She collaborated with all vendors to improve timeliness, the arrival of warehouse supplies, and event requirements to help people in need. Lastly, she worked closely with a team of interns to direct and oversee the operations of a successful food packaging event hosting 200+ volunteers.
Most recently, she worked at Fidelity National Financial where she supported the legal team with time-sensitive legal matters, client engagement, internal and external communications, and key administrative support as needed.
