Sarah Frances Smith is a Project Manager at the EFI Foundation (EFIF).
At EFIF, Smith works predominantly on the Hydrogen Demand Initiative, designing novel demand-side policies to implement federal funding and incentivize the buildout of a domestic clean hydrogen market.
Previously, Smith interned with the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, where she contributed to net-zero strategy development and clean energy investment initiatives. She also spent two years as an International Trade Specialist at the Department of Commerce, designing technical assistance programs to promote clean energy transitions in Eurasia and supporting trade and technology collaborations between the United States and the European Union. Currently, Smith serves as the COP lead for the International Youth Nuclear Congress (IYNC), leading a delegation of young professionals at COP to host side events, speak on panels, and promote youth involvement in the energy transition. Her early career included nuclear energy research in Jordan and the United Arab Emirates as a Boren Scholar, exploring sustainable energy solutions for the Middle East.
Smith holds a Master of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University with a specialization in science and technology policy. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science and Middle East studies from the University of Tennessee. She is passionate about the intersection of technology, policy, and sustainability and is committed to building equitable and reliable energy systems that enhance communities worldwide.
